SUBEB Director Tasks Teachers on Quality Service Delivery

Primary school teachers in Akwa Ibom State have been called upon to see their service as a sacrifice to humanity and therefore be committed to their duties in order to lay a solid foundation for the educational advancement of the young ones in the state.

The Director of Administration and Supplies, State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), Mr. Ekanabasi Ubong, made the appeal at a meeting with education secretaries and chairmen of school management committee held at the SUBEB multi-purpose Conference Hall, Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat in Uyo.

He noted with regret that in spite of Government’s effort to reposition most community primary schools across the state in order to make them a better place for learning, the condition of some of the schools have remained deplorable and an eyesore of sorts. The SUBEB director urged the secretaries to ensure that they performed their duties and reinforce their commitment for the betterment of education in the state.

He said the meeting was organized to find a way forward for school based management committee, which according to him is committed to the development of community schools. He therefore urged them to contribute their quota to the rehabilitation of community schools in the state.

Speaking at the occasion, the Permanent Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board, Mrs. Christiana Otu Inyang, said the board will always ensure that salaries and allowance, of teachers in the state are paid regularly in order to motivate them to work harder by impacting quality education and enduring socialization for the young ones in Akwa Ibom State.

She maintained that it is the mission of SUBEB to develop and implement clear and sustainable programmes for qualitative education through the use of highly-motivated, well-trained, committed, and competent teachers working under favourable conditions.
