The Playhouse is a facility that flaunts a balanced blend of a homely environment and fully-equipped indoor and outdoor play areas. This attractive, interactive, colourful and nurturing environment is set up for the growth and development of children between the ages of 18months & 5years. The gathering of children of this age group will help to foster a spirit of friendliness, tolerance and cooperative attitude.
Our Vision To create an amiable, all - encompassing environment away from home, for the care, entertainment and education of children . Our Mission To act as alter ego to parents, especially those in the working – class category, by passing as much developmental information as possible to their children, in the formative and sensitive period of their lives. The centre will be open between the hours of 6.45am-6.45pm (Monday-Fridays) and we are registered with Finnih Medical Centre situated within G.R.A, Ikeja.
Morning session: 8.00am-12.30pm Afternoon session:2.00pm- 6.00pm Full-day session: 8.00am-6.00pm We offer ‘wrap-around care’ which means we open all year round and operate four (4) terms a year. We observe both federal and state public holidays. Highlights We utilize the Montessori Method of Education , which advocates the independence of the child .This is combined with the British Curriculum on early years, itself divided into six (6) areas of learning. Hence our activities include but are not limited to: Personal/ Social Emotional Development : To build on child’s self esteem, confidence, independence, social relationship, and to develop a positive disposition and attitude. Language/Communication and Literacy: To develop an interest in books and the habit of reading, whilst also encouraging attentive listening, communication and writing skills. Mathematical Development: Recognizing numerals and digits, conceptualizing numeric progressions through exercises like counting reliably, leading up to applying mathematical ideas and methods to solve practical problems. Knowledge and Understanding of the World: Here we encourage the expression of interest and curiosity, by exploring the dynamic world of science, investigating the evolution of living things ranging from animals in general to specifics like man and plants, so also varying objects and places. Physical development: To demonstrate basic fine and gross motor control and coordination through outdoor activities, music and drama, construction tools and objects. Creative Development: To develop creative tendencies by exploring different media through art, music and drama.

Somolu is a legal practitioner by profession.She holds a certificate in Montessori Method of Education from the Maria Montessori Traning Organization, London , England. She subsequently had her teaching practice at Great Beginners Montessori School, London. Her teaching experience started as a Playgroup Teacher at Stork Nest Nursery School, Yaba, Lagos, after which she worked as a Nursery Class Teacher at Ikoyi Nursery School, Ikoyi, Lagos. Her last teaching experience was as a Reception Class Teacher at the Lagos Preparatory School, Ikoyi, Lagos where she held the position of the Foundation Stage Coordinator until her voluntary resignation in July 2004. Any Other Information The children will be under the guide of caregivers and teachers whose principal role is to encourage and inculcate a positive attitude and provide inspiration. Our environment is well planned and created for both play and learning, to enhance the children’s physical, mental, social and intellectual development . We respect parents as the primary and most important provider of care and nurturing. We also believe parents and teachers are partners in the care of the child. This is why, at Playhouse, parents are encouraged in a variety of ways to be involved in the child's learning. We will ensure that you are well informed about our curriculum, teaching methods and school activities. Homework is also taken seriously and parents are encouraged to take active part in this activity.
